~ I am thrilled to support individuals and their families throughout their lives ... from entering college to transitioning out-of-home to more permanent senior care ~
Nelly's daughters reached out to me after Nelly's husband of 49 years had passed away. I helped her go through her husband’s belongings, donating what we could and discarding, the rest.
I went through years of paperwork and files with her which produced several boxes worth that needed to be shredded. Fortunately, I was able to do this economically for her by utilizing the Yonkers Shredding Event.
I also helped Nelly with opening the mail, paying bills, and making phone calls to resolve billing disputes.
Outside services were needed and I coordinated these (junk removal, construction of a bathroom, boiler maintenance, locksmith) as well as helped her change the batteries in her smoke detectors and get her car inspected.
I help Harvey (I've included a photo of us together) with his monthly bill pay. Harvey reached out to me just one week after his wife had passed! I helped him figure out how to access all of their on-line accounts, reset passwords, and set up auto pay.
I also assisted Harvey with the on-line process when he refinanced his condominium mortgage.
Harvey asked me to also assist his son, Evan. When administration of his work-based 401K changed, I helped Harvey get all the details necessary so that Evan could get his funds rolled over seamlessly.
Sometimes I am hired indirectly, by the adult children of my clients. Running a home can fall by the wayside when the homeowner is ill.
I started working with my client's daughters on March 14, 2020. Then the world shut down with COVID-19.
In January of 2021, they asked me to be the house manager for their father who has 24/7 aides. They needed administrative support as they were transitioning his care to Medicaid.
In January of 2021, the household boiler stopped working on one of the coldest days (also on a weekend). I called and followed up with five different companies. I found one that was able to come to service the boiler that Monday.
Subsequently, I was asked to go see why the aide's bedroom was so cold. I went to investigate and found that the top sash of the double-hung window was open.
I also figured out why water was leaking from the upstairs bathroom into the kitchen. I then hired a handyman to come re-grout the shower tiles where water was leaking.
Recently, I arranged to have the floorboard fixed in his new apartment. I also researched and purchased a new stackable washer and dryer needed for the home.
